Katharina Schmidt – Social Worker
I am Katharina with 11 years’ experience supporting families, whānau and individuals across a range of different circumstances.
My role is to meet people where they are and walk alongside them as they work towards their own goals.
I believe that change and recovery take time, patience and a willingness to work at a person’s own pace. Sometimes progress is about taking big steps forward, and sometimes it is simply about supporting someone through the next small step.
Throughout my career, I have developed strong connections with services, clinicians and professionals across Whanganui and value collaborative practice.
I see Social Work as complementing therapeutic intervention by supporting the wider social, practical and relational factors that can impact a person’s wellbeing and recovery.
This may include support with whānau, family relationships, housing, financial or practical concerns, safety planning, advocacy and/or connecting with community organizations.
